Implant dentistry

Dental Implants

Dental implants are a modern option for replacing one or more missing teeth. They act as a stable foundation for a crown, a bridge or a wider prosthetic restoration. The most suitable solution is decided individually, after a clinical and radiographic assessment.

When Implants Are Considered

  • A single missing tooth, when the aim is to avoid a conventional bridge and keep the neighbouring teeth intact
  • Several missing teeth in one area
  • An edentulous jaw or an unstable denture
  • Teeth with irreversible damage that need to be removed

The Stages Of Treatment

After the initial clinical and radiographic assessment, a straightforward single-tooth case is usually completed in three main treatment appointments:

  • Surgical placement of the implant.
  • A digital scan or conventional impressions after the appropriate healing period.
  • Fitting of the final crown.

In selected cases a custom surgical guide, based on the digital plan, can be used to guide the placement of the implant.

The number of visits and the overall timeline may vary according to the clinical findings and the needs of each patient.

Factors That Influence The Outcome

Bone volume and quality, gum health, smoking, systemic conditions and regular maintenance all affect how the treatment progresses. These are reviewed before any plan is proposed.
